Telehealth is when a medical office serves patients at a distance using various tools to apply care. At Dr. Toni Johnson-Chavis clinics, we have two different Telehealth options over the Telephone or through Online Video Chat.
To schedule both types of telehealth options, please contact the office directly at (323) 774-6551. Requirements, you must be a Los Angeles County Resident. For telephone appointments, you only need to set an appointment and be accessible through the phone number at the designated time. To make an online video chat, call the office, and make an appointment. You can use a smartphone (iPhone, Android) with a wifi connection for video chat or through a laptop or standard desktop computer with webcam and internet access. Having your meeting in a private location is essential so that your session is HIPPA compliant, and you have the proper privacy to have a satisfying appointment.
What to expect when on a Telehealth Phone call or video session?
Both telephone and video sessions will vary depending on the type of session. What stays the same, you will talk to your specific doctor or physician assistant during the session. Besides not being in the office, everything during the session should be similar to a routine pediatric appointment.
Video Camera Advice:
Mobile phones are a very convenient way to communicate via the web, but unlike your normal video chat from your phone, everything must be clear during your appointment. When using a mobile phone, we suggest propping the phone up using a device made to hold your phone still or something like a book that can hold your phone in place. The clearer the picture, the better your provider will be at providing care. Ensuring you are in focus and have a clear picture also applies to webcams on desktops and laptops.
Natural lighting or white light is what we are looking for to get an accurate video or image color. Some lights project different colors, orange, red, etc. Suppose you are in a location that's not ideal with proper lighting. A solution would be to take photo images in other parts of the house with better, more neutral lighting and send those images to your provider via email.
